    i wish there were more practical examples on a windows home user level of comprehension of this and how it relates to practical services we use every day. perhaps mentioning alternatives or differences between a DC and a standalone computer , also how the two can be joined or what services and protocols use these things without people realizing necessarily

    A Domain Controller is any server that has Active Directory.
    Group policy etc

    Very interesting. You didn’t mention the distinction between Windows Home, Windows Professional, and Windows Servers, so may I assume that Active Directories and Domain Controllers are available for all current variants of Windows?
