Tutorial: How To Build Your Own Author Website In Under 30 Minutes
In this tutorial, I will take you through:
01:40 – Why you need a professional author website (if you want to take your author career seriously)
03:07 – Why pay for hosting instead of using a free site
05:39 – What is a domain name and what is hosting?
07:49 – Why I recommend Bluehost if you are just starting out (and how I use it myself)
[Please note, I am an affiliate of Bluehost so if you use my link: http://www.TheCreativePenn.com/bluehost then I receive a small percentage of the sale at no extra cost to you. Of course, there are lots of other options!]
09:33 – How to set up your new site on Bluehost — fast and easy!

Thank you, im so lost where to start! Grateful…
Very good presentation!!!
I really thank you for this video. Your presentation was so good that I went and purchased the service with Bluehost using your affiliate link. At the moment, I’m watching your 2nd video of this series to build my site.
Hi There, thank you for your very helpful video, I do have one question though, when you speak about WordPress do you mean WordPress.org with the open source software or WordPress.com the website builder. Apologies if this question is a little silly, I’m just a bit confused on this point, Kind Regards, Gearóid
My site is telling me that a PHP update is required. It says, "WordPress has detected that your site is running on an insecure version of PHP." Is this something I should immediately worry about and if so, do you have a video for that? I did look at it, and the instructions are very confusing.
This helped so much.
At the moment I have written one book but more are in the pipelines so my question is, can I add my youtube videos which are in line with my current book and wordpress blog which is also along the same theme on my website?
If you post your own copyrighted art on your bluehost website is it protected from being ripped / downloaded?
Do I need an author website since I only have 2 books and will never update the site and no one will ever find it?
I thought wordpress was free
Thanks a mil.
I note, Jo, that Curl Up has it’s own website. I’m not sure of the merits of a publishing house website – do you know what sort of traffic this usually gets? Do business offers come in this route?
Very helpful! Now if I can just decide whether to use a pen name or not … Ergh!
