The Extreme Lengths To Grow Taller: Limb-Lengthening Surgery In India | Undercover Asia

The Extreme Lengths To Grow Taller: Limb-Lengthening Surgery In India | Undercover Asia

An investigation into a growing trend in limb lengthening surgery in India, where certain men and women who believe their heights are ruining their lives, are having operations to grow taller.

The film follows the progress of two men who have the procedure, starting inside the operating theatre as their surgeon breaks their legs before attaching rods, frames and bolts for the lengthening process to begin. It charts their recovery over months as they grow a millimetre at a time before struggling to get back onto their feet.

Undercover Asia also tracks down another young man who was left crippled by limb lengthening surgery and examines why height is so important in Indian society, talking to agents who cast models and actors in Bollywood and women who are on a hunt for prospective life partners.

This world has so much to be dissatisfied by.
I’m 4’11, dark skinned with nappy hair and I’ve never been more comfortable in my skin.
I think if people don’t respect you, the problem is theirs, not yours. I don’t understand how one can disrespect another just because of their height.

Hearing that Indian Chick demand the world because she’s 5’8 almost made me throw up in my mouth.
We’re dealing with Women’s inflated and unrealistic standards all across the world right now. Social Media is literally tearing apart society at the seams.

I’m sorry, but having had way too many NON-ELECTIVE SURGERIES, this is not a gamble I would EVER TAKE ON MY LIFE OR ON SOMEONE’S LIFE OF SOMEONE WHO I LOVEπŸ’”. IT IS JUST PURE MADNESS😱!!!
I SHATTERED MY LEG, ANKLE AND FOOT ON MY LEFT LEG 8 YEARS AGO & NOW HAVE A TITANIUM ROD with 12 SCREWS AND PINS in MY LEG!!! IT NEVER HEALED CORRECTLY, AND I HAVE DEVELOPED CHRONIC COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME TYPE 2 πŸ’” (for which there is no cure) I live in SEVERE PAIN CONSTANTLY!!! I also happen to be diabetic and have diabetic neuropathy πŸ’”. This is also VERY PAINFULπŸ’”. I am only 5’3" tall. I am perfectly fine with my height. My husband is 5’5". My oldest son is almost 6′ tall. My youngest son is 5’7.5" Height doesn’t matter where we live… My daughter is only an inch taller than me.
I don’t think, this surgery is NEEDED!!! It’s a mind game!!! (That’s being polite!)
If you go to this, please make sure you go to a qualified orthopedic surgeon!!! And make sure THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!! Otherwise you are the one that will end paying for their mistakes!!! Please do whatever research you can BEFORE you do anything this INVASIVE!!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

Everyone says their height is perfectly fine but will refuse to date someone shorter. Just like racism. You will 100% get judged if you decided to date them or have direct involvement.

He says that he denies people and picks and chooses a lot. Why on earth would he approve a man that is successful, has a wife, knows that he hasn’t informed his wife, and works in TECH. Got this surgery just to work from home at a desk and some zoom meetings because of COVID. That’s such a clear case that seems like it should be turned down

Lots of people 4" wouldn’t make or break. 5’2"-5’6" doesn’t make a BIG difference believe me, you’ll just be as hard to meet girlfriends. I have heard there are height requirements for some jobs in Southeast Asia so if its your dream to be a Flight Attendant or Nurse than you would be very tempted to do this of course. I would say if you are 5’8" it could be a big deal to become 6′. 6′ just seems to be such a HUGE number for women, the amount of hot women gets immense when they see that magic number 6. Finally, a respectable point is perhaps going from dwarf to just over 5′. If you can make it to 5’2" it can get you into the ballpark for many women. Maybe 5’1" to 5’5" is tempting, you’d be above the US average height for women.

Anything else would be absolutely absurd, that’s my 2 cents on the whole issue.

I can tell ya one thing , it doesn’t seem that bad at first but the interactions drip a sour taste of judgment that keeps dripping like acid day in and day out , until your pride exists no more.

If my husband had major surgery that will cripple him for weeks and not only didn’t tell me but also lied about it, might be grounds for divorce. Not might be, would be probably.

    ***LOVE YOURSELF***
height = gender = age = skin color
you can’t magically change them, be happy who you are, don’t let your self esteem get lowered, accept it that this is how you are. please love yourself first before loving other person/things.

I just watched a documentary a week ago about a man who did this and the surgery went wrong. Now he can’t work out and will need crutches to get around permanently or till he has a corrective surgery.
