Whatever name ends up on the letter you get – the scam always remains the same – trying to trick you into “renewing” an expiring domain name through them … at the cost of $45/yr per domain!
Don’t be fooled. They’re not your existing registrar – and there’s NO NEED to pay them $45/yr for a domain name!

Thank you. I got the letter. You cleared it up for me.
thank you!!!!
We just got this bs letter!
Great post Mike! I think a lot of companies get caught by this scam because a non technical person is responsible for paying the bills and he/she does not realize iDNS is not there registrar. Let’s face it, this tech jargon is not easy to get your head around. Makes a prime target for a scammer.
If you don’t know where your domain is registered, do a WHOIS lookup. WHOIS will list the registrar where you should renew your domain.
More about WHOIS in my blog post:

how would they make a profit after mailing fees? Even at 40 dollars, they must get one in 20 people paying this for it to be profitable.
Just got one by email too!But i tryied to find the company and it’s nowhere in the email! It only says "domain name notice".
Thanks for the vid!you just saved me 47 $….
I have more than 20 domain names registered for many years, and they all are linked to Web sites that I manage. This IDNS scam company has mailed me numerous letters over the years offering domain name renewals. Each time, they seem to change their own Web site address. This year, their letters reference their Web site as idns.as. On previous years, they call themselves idns.ae, idns.to, etc. That alone should tip you off that this is a SCAM.
What is really funny (and stupid) is that with every letter I have received from IDNS, they never reference my own registered domain names. Instead, they register their own domain names that look very similar to my own registered domain names. They usually take my domain names and change one single letter in the name; e.g. changing an "a" to a "e" in their own registered domain name. And then they want me to pay to renew a domain name that they created themselves and I do not even own or use. LOL! And out of curiosity, when I use a browser to access their own registered/fake domain names that sound similar to mine, the Web sites of those domain names always say "You have reached a domain that is pending ICANN verification" – in other words, the ICANN domain name authority has suspended the domain because they registered those domains using fake email addresses that do not belong to me or anyone else. LOL!!
So I just throw away the 30 or 40 letters that I have received from IDNS, but I keep the return envelope that they include with their letters, and I just tape a sheet of paper over their return address and use their return envelopes as a regular business envelope for my own mailing. So IDNS has supplied me with more than 30 free business envelopes, and they wasted effort in registering domain names that I could care less about. I really hope that IDNS keeps sending me these letters so I can use their return envelopes for my own mail that I send out. LOL!!!!
Nasty little f***ers, almost got me, but then, I thought to check it out before grabbing my credit card (like one is supposed to do.).
My website host takes care of all these sort of services for me, and for $85.00??!! Come ON! If these crooks are serious about this, they should at least charge a reasonable price, one that approximates the actual charge, rather than my car payment!
OMG I JUST RECEIVED THAT EXACT LETTER! I AM SO HAPPY I SAW THIS VIDEO! I AM SO HAPPY GOOGLE IS SO HONEST RIGHT NOW HAHAHAH
thanks for the vid! saved me alot lol, i use yola and already paying for the website lol, fuckin scamers smh
What do you do if you did renew with them? What recourse do you have to stop it?
Got mine today…..only in America do we let companies get away with misleading consumers like this….! They must be a sponsor of the Virginia governor…..!
this just happen to me today but on the phone the dude was indian
You rock, keep being informative!!
Jan 2016 – still going on. Same letter from iDNS. Thanks for making this an informative comedy, but I wish you would have made a PAPER AIRPLANE out of the notice. LOL
Just got one of these in the mail today! The devil is a lie! Thanks for the video!
I literally was going online just now to see if I could renew my domain name online rather than writing my credit card number down and mailing it back to them and I ran into your video and uh yea, what was I thinking? $45 is insane for a domain name. Thanks for the heads up.
Hey Mike,
It’s Kimball again (post: http://kimballrexford.com/idns-internet-domain-name-services/).
Since my post about iDNS I’ve been getting a bunch of fake robo calls. I get one almost everyday. The call sounds like a bad recording of "Card Holder Services" robo call. And it comes from invalid/spoofed phone number, only a few digits off from my published office phone number.
Have you been getting any of these? I’ve been wondering if iDNS is behind this, trying to harass me. Can’t think of anyone else that would do this.
What is everyone’s website!!? Please list them below
Thanks you!
Ha! I just got the same letter in the mail today đ
Just got this in the mail today. I go through freewebs.com so I was a little confused.
i just got the same thing today. carbon copy of the one you got
You are great man! Got my card on the table currently and almost paid these guys… feel pretty dumb, but feel lucky for stumbling upon this! Thank you!
Thank you. I’ve just received a letter like the one shown.
Great video thanks for doing it. I just got this letter in the mail. Bloody idiots
hahahahahahahah you are so funny! thanks for this!
I’m glad I checked it out! Thanks. I was suspicious of the amount (I paid less to get the site), the method of billing and the website address for them, it ends in .ag not .com
Just got one of these in the mail today! The devil is a lie! Thanks for the video!
literally just almost paid them .. no joke. thank god i did a little research before i paid this đ i am so silly.
I knew something wasn’t right! I got my domain name from GoDaddy!
That same letter came to me in the mail and I knew it had to be a scam. So I looked it up and your video popped up. Thank you for confirming my suspicions!
Hah, I’ve been getting loads of these from IDNS Canada with a return address in Toronto. But hey, it’s cheaper … just $40 .. and Canadian – a real steal LOL
I’ve been meaning to get the police onto this scam but life got in the way.
This letter came in the mail today addressed to me, a 14 year old girl… I had no idea what it was and my parents weren’t so pleased as they thought I had been making payments on some websites with their credit card numbers. I’m showing this video to them now, thank you so much for posting this, you may have saved my life. đ
I got sucked into this. Now what?
Thank you….. great work
WOW! It looked pretty convincing convincing to me! Thanks….
I got one today! I was worried but I am so glad I saw your video. Thanks!!!
Thanks, Mike for a great video. I used Google Maps and Google search to locate this business. The address listed, 924 Bergen Ave, Jersey City, NJ, is for a UPS store. This scammer is renting a private mail box, #289 that they call a "suite". I started getting emails from them right after I created a website. I recognized them as a scam then, marking them as SPAM. Recently they sent a copy of that notorious letter to my home. Enough is enough. Thanks, again!
