Domains names are the real estate of the internet. Like land, domain names are limited in number and so when the demand rises, their value shoots up. Domain names have lately caught the fancy of young entrepreneurs who are now eyeing it as the next big “online assets” business. What inspired you to go for this area of business?
Short Answer: Laziness.
Long Answer: As absurd as it may sound, it’s the truth. I am of the person who can’t work at their optimum level in a swarm of competition, working hard on thin margins. So I instead put my time and efforts to search for the new age things that have a lot of potential but very little known to the masses hence by putting much fewer efforts and energy, I am able to fetch better returns. Domaining matched perfectly with it as it doesn’t require my constant time and attention, dealing with clients, or maintaining a large infrastructure while still making sure to fetch the numbers matchable by any mid-size corporate.

What are all the challenges you faced and how you overcame them?
The biggest challenge was same which is there with any start with lesser known business model: Approval. It is often hard to explain about your work when there is not so much awareness for it and in my case, it was even harder because not even 1% in my circle knew that domain names can even have such a potential. Thankfully, it has changed with time and recognition by the industry of this field.

Kindly share with us the achievements of you and your company in the industry so far?
Our company has received the Power Portfolio award for our Domain assets. Apart from that, I’m a selected entrepreneur by the German Ministry of Economic Affairs, Indian Ministry of Commerce & Industry and the Government of India as an ambassador to strengthen International business relationships. I’m also selected as a fellow from Indian Domaining Community by inSIG (India School on Internet Governance) for the 2018 edition, supported by The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), (ICANN), APASA and, The Government of India. We’ve been interviewed in the parliament of India for an exclusive discussion on digital investments and invited by the Government of Madhya Pradesh to speak on domain names and digital technologies in the state science and innovation fair.

What are all your future plans for your business?
I’m very positive on our own country’s domain-related activities, including our extension: .IN. With the Internet boom in India, millions of businesses will have the requirement to go online and acquire their brand identity. We plan to not only witness but be a part this internet growth to become India’s largest domain consulting and investing firm.

In the crowd of different businesses, how you differentiate your business?
Well, it’s easy. We don’t require a setup of 100 employees, fancy offices, or external funding. We’re completely bootstrapped, self-dependent, and cash positive. This I believe, differentiates us than other run of the mill startups.

Do you feel you have achieved what you dream of?
Not yet. I still have to make my first 2 Million Dollars Sale : )

Any piece of advice for budding entrepreneurs?
I’ll just quote what I say in my every talk, seminar, and workshop: Some people say the key to success is Hard Work, some say it’s smart work. But according to me, In today’s digital world, It’s neither the hard work nor the smart work; They key to success is the UNIQUE work – work which nobody else can think of doing!
