How to Verify Your Domain on Google Search Console in 2019 (DNS and TXT Record)

How to Verify Your Domain on Google Search Console in 2019 (DNS and TXT Record)

In this video, you’ll learn how to verify your domain ownership in Google Search Console via TXT record. Specifically, I’ll show you how to set up your Search Console account, add a web property to that account, and verify your domain so that Google knows you’re the owner.

This is important for a couple of reasons because once you’re verified, you’ll have access to Google search data, you can submit your sitemap to Google, and you’ll have a positive impact on your blog’s presence within Google’s search results.

Please note that I purchased my domain from Bluehost. So, if your domain provider isn’t Bluehost, some of the steps in this video will be different. However, I’ve listed a “Host-Specific” link below that will help guide you through the process if your web host is something other than Bluehost. Either way, the majority of these steps in the video are the same regardless of where you purchased your domain from.

IMPORTANT: There have been some changes to the Bluehost backend since this video was published. Due to this, I created a quick Google doc that outlines the new steps you’ll need to take in order to create a new TXT record in Bluehost. Please refer to this doc while I work on creating an updated video tutorial. Thanks for your patience! 🙂

It seems My BH layout is different. I clicked on DNS and scrolled down to TXT (Text) and clicked Add Record. I put the @ in the host then the copied TXT in the TXT bit and kept the next section on 4 hours as 14400 seconds is 4 hrs. I then clicked enter and all was ok. Just letting people know. 👍 Thanks for tutorial

But now should i submit sitemap and robot.txt file again. (As I have done it before for my old blogger subdomain)

I think your videos are the greatest . YouTube is very lucky to have you here. I am creating a blog called NEW YORK LIFESTYLES and out of all the videos I looked and searched for good learning research materials, your videos were the best. They are easy to understand and you speak clearly and explain everything properly and throughly. I subscribed to your channel and with your help leading the way. I am going to create a great blog and then I going to create a really cool website and work hard to someday monetize them both. THANK YOU, BEN.

Is it important to put TTL to 4 hrs? I’ve read somewhere it’s best to leave it at a default setting (1hr for my provider), and my provider doesn’t offer 5 hours. The closest are 2 or 5 hours
