How to Move / Transfer Domain FROM GoDaddy to Another Host (Namecheap)

I’ll show you how you can move a domain from GoDaddy to another host, like Namecheap. After this video, your domain will be fully transferred to another host and you don’t need to renew your domain at GoDaddy anymore.

Before starting the transfer, make sure that below applies to you:

– The domain is more than 60 days old.
– The domain was not transferred between registrars within the last 60 days.
– The domain is “Unlocked” for transfer (“Registrar Lock” is disabled).

How To Transfer or Move A Domain Name To A New Host, Owner, Person, Or Account?

If you want to transfer a domain to a different registrar the follow these steps:

1. Make sure that your domain is not locked and that privacy protection is disabled in the GoDaddy domain dashboard.
2. Wait until you receive the “domain unlock successful” email.
3. Get the domain authorization code from GoDaddy.
4. Go to the other host (or domain registrar) and request a transfer and pay for domain transfer.
5. Accept the domain transfer.
6. Wait until you receive an email from NameCheap that the domain transfer complete. Then you can control the domain from NameCheap.

    Hey, what if i want to change the address before 60 days of their locked registrar policy? Is there a way to do that? My domain was earlier with godaddy and now i have transferred it to wordpress because of convenience and customisation purposes but i cannot install any plugins because it says that my nameserver does not point to wordpress.com
    I will really appreciate your valuable response.

    You didn’t say when you change your contact info, you will be unable to do the transfer because GoDaddy’s Policy. Now, I have to wait 60 days to do the transfer and my domain expired in 45 days. I don’t know what to do. I’m very frustrated.

    Great Video!!! GODADDY is a pure thief they just charge you for 17$ every year for something that worth 8$ per year, I moved my hosting and domains, emails away from them to namecheap!

    Great video. I had nothing against the quality of service from GoDaddy but they did away with email forwarders and were pushing premium emails and that is crazy. So many other hosts offer email forwarding. I have settled on Namecheap.

    AWESOME MAN!!! .. I want to leave godaddy long time ago. Thanks to you. I just did. Godaddy constanly increasing the price for my domain. I Got my domain long time ago for 8-9 dollars I think … Now my domain si 17 dollars … the transfer to namecheap cost me only 8.66 dollars for one year …. that’s why I leave godaddy and move to Namecheap

    Thanks for the fun video! I followed your video to transfer a domain from godaddy to gandi. After your video I read some of the comments below and realise that I didn’t transfer the DNS records before making the transfer. Have I messed up or are they usually automatically transferred? or is it possible to recover them and transfer them? I see the domain is no longer available in godaddy though 😕🤞🏻
