How to connect a third-party domain || Shopify Help Center

Today, we’re taking the guesswork out of how to connect a third-party domain to your online store with Shopify.

Subscribe now for a step-by-step guide on connecting a third-party domain from GoDaddy or 1&1 IONOS. If you don’t have a domain with either of these providers, then check out the timestamps to skip ahead and learn how to manually edit your DNS settings.

Connecting your domain, means that the domain is still managed and maintained by the provider you purchased it from. But, potential customers see your custom URL when visiting your online store with Shopify.

This doesn’t help in my case. Please give me something helpful. I need CSR (Certificate Signing Request) from shopify for this note in your admin dashboard: "To connect your domain, you need to log in to your provider account and change your settings. Follow the provider step-by-step instructions to get started."

I’m going back and forth here. name.com and shopify. All I need is just That CSR (Certificate Signing Request). Hopefully you guys will attend to this professionally. Please let us know.

    Thanks

I am all day researching this whole topic of domains and subdomains. My question is, is there a way to manage multiple domains from just 1 main store? For example, suppose my main domain is http://www.abc.com and I want to have http://www.abc.es (domain for Spain), http://www.abc.it (domain for Italy), http://www.abc.fr (domain for France). .. Is this possible? I would like to be able to manage all these domains from 1 main store and not have a store for each domain. Please, if you help me in this I would appreciate it very much, I need to internationalize my store and I need to know what is the most effective way to do it. I do not know if this is possible to do as I am telling you, if there is a similar way I would appreciate an answer.

Hi. I am trying to follow the steps for manually editing the DNS settings. I could successfully change the CNAME but in the A section, "@" is not being accepted. They have a set of requirements for the host field. What do I do then??

  43. Andrew Boahen on June 27, 2021 at 9:11 pm

  47. BigHarp09 on June 27, 2021 at 9:17 pm

How long does it take once you update a third party domain to propagate?

  48. LeadingEmpress on June 27, 2021 at 9:18 pm

is this now out of date? because im trying to transfer my existing domain from go daddy but there is no option to automatically transfer domain from go daddy anymore. I am reading that I need to wait for domain to be 60 days old? is this right?

  49. I James on June 27, 2021 at 9:18 pm

For those interested, I use Bluehost. Rather than trying to do all the transferring on that end, I contacted Bluehost support via chat and they did it for me in about 10 minutes for free. Then I went into my Shopify account and made the changes outlined in the video. I hope that helps.

  50. Luis Daniel Guerra on June 27, 2021 at 9:18 pm

What happens when they are connected? Does that mean my webpage will disappear and I’ll have the store intead? or could I merge the store into my existing webpage?
