How to Change Domain Name in Wix (Free Wix URL)

All Wix websites come with a free domain name.

You can edit TWO PARTS of any free domain with Wix.

PART 1: Editing your Wix account name
Step 1. Log into your Wix account.
Step 2. Navigate to your account header.
Step 3. Click on your account name in the top right hand corner.
Step 4. Select ‘Account Settings’.
Step 5. Under ‘Basic Info’ go to ‘Account Name’.
Step 6. Here you can update your account name, which will update the first part of your website address.
Step 7. Once you’re done, click ”Save’.

PART 2A: Editing your Wix individual site name (via ‘My Sites’ page)
Step 1. Navigate to your ‘My Sites’ page, which you can access from the account header.
Step 2. From your ‘My Sites’ page, hover over the site and click the drop down box that appears in the top right hand corner.
Step 3. Click ‘Rename Site’.
Step 4. Here you can change your site’s website address name.

– You can only rename a site if it’s already published
– It has to be all lower-case letters
– And you can include numbers, as well as the hyphen ( – ) symbol in your chosen name.
– It must be 4-20 characters long
– It can’t end in a hyphen ( – )
– Must be unique and can’t be the same as another website you have under the same account

PART 2B: Editing your Wix individual site name (via ‘Dashboard’)
Step 1. Navigate to your ‘My Sites’ page.
Step 2. To access the dashboard, hover over the site and click ‘Select & Edit Site’.
Step 3. At the top of the dashboard, navigate to the drop-down called ‘Site Actions’.
Step 4. Click ‘Rename Site’.
Step 5. Here you can change your site’s website address name.
