Actually, there’s an easier way to do this, and it works for both chrome and other apps. (Mac)
Method 1
Just make sure the two windows are not in full screen, then hover over one of the window’s full screen button (don’t click it). After a few second three options will appear; tile screen to right, tile screen to left, and enter full screen. Click any of the first two options and that window will tile to left/right. Then on the other side, there will be the other window, just click on it and you’ll have a divided screen.
Method 2
Slide up with 3 fingers and you’ll have a view of all the windows and apps active. Drag the window you want to merge to the window you want to merge it with. A plus sign will appear. Then release the first window, and you have a divided screen.
