3.1 Implementing DNS on Windows Server 2016 (Step by Step guide)
In this video series I am going to implement and configure networking with Windows Server 2016. In the third video from the series we are going to implement DNS. DNS is a core name resolution service required by every MS Active Directory domain. Proper DNS configuration is crucial for different services and applications to work.
Tips and tricks:
Get familiar with the new feature DNS Policy – https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/networking/dns/deploy/dns-policy-scenario-guide
I follow the step but nothing work
Thank you so much for this! you sir, are very good at explaining things. Great vid
Nick, I am very new to your channel, just listened to couple of your videos and I have to say they are brilliant, very informative, very clear and constructive and coherent and you are very good communicator and articulate. I commend you for your effort and sharing your knowledge. Keep sharing
Good video but your adds just hide your cmd at the very end so we can’t see anything…
I didn’t understand what is the use of 144 ip address..as u have 10.x.x.19 ip address
Hi

Thank you
Hey Nick, do you have an email you can share?
Is setting up a DNS server in windows server means creating a directory of IP and equivalent domain name from scratch? or just pointing to an existing DNS in cloud?
So quick question, I have installed the DNS server and zones, currently things are working BUT, not the way they really should be, as I get errors saying HOST ip address can not be found even though I run nslookup and it shows me there. I created seperate zones, mail zone, autodiscover zone, and local name zone, but and big but, domain name external lookup is .ca that is not in the zones.
Very informative video! Thank you.
Keep up the good spirit… Great job
join using "." or "@", example: ".cli01" and "@cli01", calls the abbreviated domain ? which one does that? which record do I add ? orbigado
What tool do you use to put the hostname and IP information up on the right top corner of your machine? And thank you for the DNS info by the way.
i you can also show you how to connect to a website (CDN CNAME) that is most important.
I NEED TO INTEGRATE BIND WITH WINDOWS SERVER IS THIS TUTORIAL RELEVANT FOR ME IF NOT PLEASE KINDLY REFER ME TO THOSE WHICH CAN ASSIST ME.
I’m trying to connect to mine but when ping I get time out. I’m using it virtual box with Nat network but works when I use bridged so it must be my router. I could not get it to sorted so would like to configure it not sure if I’ve done anything wrong.
16:33 – OMG after two weeks of trying of fixing this, finally fix – thanks only tutorial that show this ❤
Can we enable this DNS server on Windows 10 Pro ?
Maximize screen and zoom
Hi, Nick i have seen almost every major topic video you created to counter check on our technique and get various thing to keep for us. If I want to contact you for a private lesson, what is the way?
I think the secondry option at 7:40 is that externally related DNS issue which is purely handled by ISP – no replication here?
What’s the benefit of having DNS running from a windows server, rather than the router?
I agree with Kivi Kocher. None of the other explanation vids from other people (mostly indians :)) have such a good explanation. Keep it up man! I think I sub to you. 😉
access share with ip, but not with name, how to resolve ? thank you. abraco do brasil
Thanks for sharing the videos, good job keep it up…
Hey Nick, how would you modify the DNS server so that if a client connected to the DNS and navigates to lets say ‘google.com’ you are able to specify the IP address of where that would map to. For example, I want any user that tries to go to bing.com is navigated to google.com?
HUETA
Too small Windows.. can’t see what you are doing when viewed on smartphone..
Think you can explain the hierarchy of the zones, for this layman?

You’re amazing!!! Helped my solve my issue with my IIS not showing the web page! Thank you so much 🙂
will this work on windows server 2019
I wish videos like this would set up a on an environment like people will really use … with Internet access.
I have configured some host records in my DNS server and I had them working for only a short time. Now from a PC on the network, it tells me the host cannot be found when I try and ping. I’m thinking it is because the TTL on the records is set to 1 hour, but I’m not really sure..
I harve no intzernet connection. Then the fuq are you showing a network based tutorial god damn it
your russian accent can not be hidden…, Did you try to drink water before and during vocal comments????
